A Poem
A friend at Morningside, where my folks live, wrote this poem about my dad. I thought I would share it with you. She is a true Biola Betty! She taught and was an administrator at Biola and her husband was the man in charge of admissions. Thank you Betty so much for this poem.
Don Welch
Don Welch is quite a fellow,
He does so many things!
He tries to keep us happy
the people in his ring.
The servers think he's special,
They tell him private things
About their friends and sweethearts,
Surrounding him like a king.
He hands them special candies,
Wrapped in bits of "trash"
And tells them to be careful;
there's more to life than a bash!
His sight is not very accurate
But he tackles difficult things.
One day he made a hole in one!
Victorious shouts did ring!!
He has a sense of humor
That's brought him local fame!?
When quizzed on household pets,
He claimed his were spiders with names!
Mildred is his sweetheart
He tends with loving care.
There's nothing he won't tackle
To keep her in his lair.
Don does so many little things
That men don't like to do,
But does them with love and patience,
Like the Bible tells us to.
He has a very tender spot
That brings tears to his eyes,
When his children venture forth in faith
And their children follow suit.
Some men conquer mountains
And garner public fame.
Don is faithful in small things
And honors our Father's name!
