My guess on the gecko is the Mediterranean Gecko (hemidactylus turcius), They live in Louisiana, and are "the most conspicuous gecko in North America." "most common in occupied buildings." (National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Reptiles and Amphibians)-David Budd
